Global Fund Prepares Fundraising Drive

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is seeking between USD13 billion and USD20 billion for its operations in 2011 to 2014, Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports. Global Fund Executive Director Michel Kazatchkine noted that despite global economic turmoil, it would be “shameful” for donors to cut back on their AIDS funding. The Global Fund will meet with donors in the Netherlands later this month to present global AIDS estimates based on three budget scenarios: USD13 billion, USD17 billion and USD29 billion.
