Global Fund Seeks USD4 Billion

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is calling on donors to close a USD4 billion budget gap of the proposed USD13.5 billion funding for 2008-2010. "In view of the funding gap and the impact of a global economic crisis on the developing world, the Global Fund looks forward to how leaders of G-20 [Group of 20 most industrialized] countries address this situation at their summit in London on 2 April,"

Global Fund Executive Director Michel Kazatchkine during a donor meeting in Spain.
