Demand for climate expertise in development work is growing ever stronger — and for those interested in this area, it doesn’t necessarily require a background in climate science.
Based in Niamey, Niger, Yacine Fall works with NORCAP to “translate” and distribute critical weather information to rural communities and coordinate climate activities.
Her background is in economics, and Fall started her development career in microfinance and women’s empowerment in rural areas. But a later role working on index insurance allowed her to learn from climate scientists on the team and develop skills in climate services design.
