As an information technology specialist with the Bureau for Management at the U.S. Agency for International Development, Rahul Shrotriya is the product owner of the agency’s portfolio management system and acting chief of engineering management with the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

There’s more to IT than providing network and desktop support, Shrotrinya said, with a range of specialties that can involve translating business requirements to technical specifications, implementing IT systems, and providing security and information assurance. A more recent role that has “cropped up in a big way” is that of a data scientist, which will be important to development work in the future, he added.
