Grand Challenges Explorations: Round 9

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is now accepting applications for its Grand Challenges Explorations initiative.

The Gates foundation is partnering with Cannes Lions to find new ways to distribute stories that will inspire people to support development aid. Topics for Round 9 are as follows:

  • Aid is working. Tell the world.

  • New approaches for the interrogation of anti-malarial compounds.

  • Protect crop plants from biotic stresses from field to market.

  • Design new approaches to optimize immunization systems.

  • Explore new solutions for global health priority areas.

Everyone — including students, scientists and entrepreneurs — with transformative ideas addressing global health and development challenges are invited to submit a two-page application online. The most innovative proposals will receive an initial grant of $100,000. An additional funding of up to $1 million will be available for projects deemed successful.

The deadline for submitting proposals is on May 15.
