Some 680 additional police officers will be deployed to Haiti to boost the capacity of the U.N. peacekeeping force stationed in the country, the U.N. Security Council has decided. The new deployments brings the total number of U.N. police officers serving in the mission to 4,391. The additional police officers are expected to help deal with the various security challenges faced by the country in the wake of the strong earthquake in January.
