Haitians Cry Corruption

Hundreds of Haiti earthquake survivors protested Feb. 7 against Petionville mayor Lydie Parent, who protesters say is engaged in corrupt practices and hoarding of aid delivered by relief organizations. The protesters, mostly women, flocked to the rubble-strewn streets, carrying plastic buckets, branches and palm fronds to convey their message.

“I am hungry, I am dying of hunger. Lydie Parent keeps the rice and doesn’t give us anything,” one protester said as quoted by Reuters. “They never go distribute where we live.”
