Canada will honor its commitment to support Haiti’s long-term reconstruction despite the tougher fiscal situation it is expected to face in coming years, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said as reported by the Vancouver Sun.
“Even with the tighter fiscal situation we have in the years to come, we still have the ability to set priority, and Haiti will be a priority, and that priority will be supported by Canadians, I’m very confident,” Harper noted.

The prime minister, who visited the quake-hit country on Feb. 15, announced that Canada will allot up to 12 million Canadian dollars for the construction of a temporary base for the Haitian government.
