Devex Early Intelligence has learned from a procurement specialist at the Ministry of Finance in Croatia that the European Commission will fund various human resource development projects in the country. These include capacity building of the Croatian Employment Service and providing disadvantaged groups with access to employment and education. Designing labor market policies, developing a national qualifications framework, and enhancing vocational training and adult learning also form part of the commission's development strategy for Croatia.
According to the procurement specialist, the central financing and contracting unit of the Ministry of Finance together with the central office for development and coordination of EU funds are the managing authorities and handle all related tenders. First procurements were published in 2008 and the next calls for tenders should take place later this year.
The EC has allocated an indicative 48 million euros for these initiatives.
