IDB backs Argentina education initiative

Inter-American Development Bank is releasing USD630 million from the USD2.9 billion Conditional Credit Line for Investment Projects to prop up Argentina’s education sector. “The goal of the CCLIP is to improve equity in preschool, primary and secondary education and help to close the gap in educational opportunities for children and adolescents from different income levels,? said IDB representative Jesus Duarte. “Children and youngsters will benefit at many different levels, from the possibility of attending preschool, to a better access to new and rehabilitated schools, particularly in geographic areas with the highest poverty rates; primary school students who will be able to receive schooling for more hours a year thanks to a longer school day; and youths, mainly the poorest, who will complete high school due to study grants,” he added.
