IDB Backs USD13.2 million Transport Project in Itajaí, Brazil

The Inter-American Development Bank has released a USD13.2 million loan to Itajaí, Brazil to enhance the city’s public transportation system.

Itajaí is a port city in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina with 72,000 residents.

The loan was approved on June 10 and forms part of the 14th operation of Procidades, a credit facility supporting integrated urban development initiatives in Brazil. 

The loan will finance investments in the Itajaí’s avenues and streets as well as paving, drainage and other public works. IDB will also build the capacity of the local government in urban development planning.
