IDB Helps Modernize Ecuador’s National Oil Firm

The Inter-American Development Bank has agreed to lend USD58 million to help Petroecuador, Ecuador’s state-owned oil company, modernize its pumping stations and strengthen its environmental management.

The project aims to boost the company’s capacity to supply oil to the northern and central parts of Ecuador and supports the construction of a covered pond to ensure the proper handling of sludge in Petroecuador’s pumping stations prior to its transportation and treatment.
