IDB Loan to Help Build Women's Centers in El Salvador

The Inter-American Development Bank has approved a $20 million loan to help finance the Ciudad Mujer (Women’s City) program in El Salvador, which will be implemented by the country’s Ministry of Social Inclusion.

The program aims to improve the lives of low-income women, provide health care services with an emphasis on sexual and reproductive health, prevent gender-based violence, establish child care services, and conduct vocational and business skills training.

The loan and $9.2 million in government funds will also be used to expand the project, including the construction of six more Ciudad Mujer centers.
