The International Monetary Fund will be disbursing USD80 million in financial aid to Burundi before the year closes. With the stabilization of the central African state, the IMF’s recent pledge to the country will be used for facilitating good governance, a census of the nation’s civil servants, and the improvement of the demobilization process in Burundi. According to finance minister, Clotilde Nizigama, the government will boost its efforts at implementing a retroactive payment system and a 34 percent salary increase for Burundi’s civil servants.
