In Bonn, UN-NGO Annual Forum Zeroes in on Sustainable Development

Sustainable development has been chosen as this year’s theme for the 64th annual conference of the United Nations and non-governmental organizations.

The event, which will take place for three days starting Sept. 3 in Bonn, Germany, is expected to attract nearly 2,000 NGO delegates from 100 countries and territories.

According to Kiyo Akasaka, the U.N. undersecretary for communications and public information, the meeting will explore consumption and production patterns and how to change them, the relationships between green economy and poverty reduction, and the role of volunteerism in achieving sustainable development.
