India Secures World Bank Aid for E-Governance Plan

The World Bank is lending India some $150 million to support the implementation of the Asian country’s flagship e-governance initiative.

India’s National e-Governance Plan has identified 27 priority projects meant to increase online services for citizens, including for birth and death registration, tax filing, land records, driver’s license and vehicle registration, passport and visa processing, and agricultural extension. 

The World Bank loan will help to initiate policy and institutional actions that will affect these online services.
