Indonesia will start registering foreign charities in the tsunami-ravaged region of Aceh this weekend. Welfare Minister Alwi Shihab said that some 160 private non-governmental organizations and U.N. units will receive forms, which the groups must fill out with details on their proposed activities during the reconstruction phase and their resources and capacity to undertake these programs. The minister clarified that the procedure is Jakarta?s way of knowing if the agencies? qualifications go with the "master plan" for Aceh?s rehabilitation. The organizations have until April 27 to turn in the documents. (Source: Indonesia begins registering foreigners in tsunami-hit Aceh/Agence France-Presse)
