Informal Settlements in Uruguay Gain IDB Aid

Informal settlers in Uruguay will gain access to adequate infrastructure as well as social and municipal services with the aid of a US70 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank. The assistance – which is part of a USD300 million conditional credit line allotted for the initiative – will regularize and improve 25 informal settlements and two semiformal areas in the country’s urban neighborhoods while reviving the agricultural market in the Goes district. Uruguay’s Ministry of Housing, Land Management, and the Environment will execute the project.
