IOM Seeks USD17M for Myanmar Homeless

The International Organization for Migration is seeking USD17 million for some 50,000 families left homeless by a strong cyclone that hit Myanmar’s Ayeyarwady Delta almost two years ago. IOM Myanmar Chief of Mission said if they will not get funding by May 2010, they will be forced to end their shelter programs and close three offices in the area. She added that at least 100,000 families in the area are still without shelter to protect them from Myanmar’s upcoming rainy season.
