U.S. President Barack Obama confirmed that some 50,000 of 65,000 American troops will remain in Iraq until the end of 2011 to train Iraqi forces, conduct counterterrorism operations and provide security services to civilians. Obama emphasized that the U.S. commitment in Iraq is changing from military-led to civilian-led effort, BBC News reports.
