Ivory Coast is trying to win. . .

Ivory Coast is trying to win back the support of donors after warring factions struck a deal that will put an end to over two years of hostilities. During a special session of the Pan-African Parliament, Ivorian Prime Minister Seydou Diarra expressed his hope that the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Union – all have suspended their aid programs in Ivory Coast at the height of the aggression – will rethink their position. Diarra said that he had talked with E.U. Commission representatives two weeks ago to revive ties but did not give further details. Prior to the civil war, Ivory Coast was the strongest performing economy in West Africa, which represented about 40 percent of the region's gross domestic product.
