Japan, IsDB Address Food Shortages in Niger

Japan and the Islamic Development Bank are providing financial aid to address impending food shortages in Niger this year, Reuters reports. The Japanese donation of 2.8 billion CFA francs (USD5.91 million) will be used to provide rice in Niger. IsDB’s assistance worth and 3.5 billion CFA francs will help establish cereal banks and rehabilitate rural roads.
