Japan Ready to Help Make Bangladeshi Buildings Quake-Proof

The Japanese government is considering providing financial assistance to help make Bangladesh’s public buildings earthquake-resistant.

“We will soon transfer our retrofitting technology to local engineers by retrofitting some public buildings here on pilot basis,” Hideki Katayama, project officer at the Japan International Cooperation Agency, told BSS.

Following the pilot project, JICA can look at formulating a project that will offer financial support to re-strengthen public buildings in the Asian nation.
