African Development Bank President Donald Kaberuka underlined the importance of regional governors’ support for efforts to raise the bank’s general capital. At the close of an AfDB governors’ meeting in Tunis on Feb. 12, Kaberuka commended regional governors for approving a 200 percent hike in the bank’s capital, which aims to increase lending to poor African states and the private sector as well as fund climate change initiatives.
