The US government and Kazakhstan have agreed that USD 84 million that US officials believed was meant to bribe Kazakh officials for oil deals will be used instead to help poor children and other programs to benefit Kazakhstan. The money will be released after it is clear there are no other claims against it. US Attorney Michael J. Garcia said the World Bank is providing technical assistance to the Kazakh government to improve its public financial management. (AP)
