Kerry Criticizes World Bank Support for South Africa Power Plant

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., chair of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is critical of the World’s Bank’s decision to support the construction of a large coal-fired power plant in South Africa, RTT News reports.

“There are better ways to promote urgent energy access in the development world without exacerbating the looming threat of catastrophic climate change which will ultimately hit Africa and the developing world hardest,” Kerry said in a statement released April 9.
