Kyrgyzstan Secures ADB Funding for Energy Sector Modernization

The Asian Development Bank has allocated €44.8 million ($63.7 million) to support the modernization of Kyrgyzstan’s energy sector, according to a senior Kyrgyz energy ministry official.

The project includes the rehabilitation of existing substations and communication facilities across the country. It is cofinanced by the national government and is expected to be completed by 2013, according to the New Europe weekly.
