The United Nations special coordinator for Lebanon, Michael Williams, met with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa in Cairo to talk about the Middle East peace process, including the Arab League’s support to proximity talks between Israel and the Palestinians. The top U.N. envoy to Lebanon hopes that the current peace negotiation will help steer regional peace and stability. The two officials also discussed the execution of Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 conflict between Israel and Hizbollah.
