Malawi’s AU Presidency Focuses on Food Security

Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika’s focus on food security as chairman of the African Union has received wide praise among world leaders, Malawi Ambassador to the United States Hawa Ndilowe told NyasaTimes. Elected to head the AU earlier this month, Mutharika would be in the position to help Africa boost food production toward self-sufficiency so that Africans would “not have to rely on handouts,” said Ndilowe.
