The Mozambican government hopes to establish a subsidized food basket for the urban poor by June. Replacing the existing current general subsidies on wheat flour and third grade rice, the food basket will benefit people in Maputo and 10 other provincial capitals, who earn 2,000 meticais (about $65) or less each month, according to the Mozambique News Agency.
