Myanmar’s government is planning to privatize 90 percent of the country’s state-owned companies by the end of 2011, BBC News says, citing figures from the local business news magazine Biweekly Eleven. BCC says the report appears “reasonably well sourced” but notes it is hard to obtain hard information on Myanmar’s economic policy because of the government’s reluctance to speak to the press, particularly the foreign media.
