Namibia fails to get Global Fund's nod

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria rejected Namibia’s proposals, which, it said, failed to show “sound technical quality.” Namibia, according to Global fund communications officer Nicolas Demey, may appeal the decision in line with the two-consecutive rejection rule but it must prove that the technical review panel committed “a significant and obvious error” in order for the board to consider reversing its decision. Demey urged the African country “to apply again for the Global Fund’s next round of funding in 2007.” (Source: Namibia refused funding for AIDS/The Namibian)
