The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Dow Jones Indexes are launching an international index in a bid to generate resources for the fund.
The Dow Jones Global Fund 50 Index will measure the performances of the top 50 companies that support the Global Fund. It will be quoted in U.S. dollars and will include no more than 15 companies from any individual country.
“The collaboration between Dow Jones Indexes and the Global Fund enables Dow Jones Indexes to create a new socially conscious measure, and we are pleased to be partnering with an organization with such strong principles and commitment to innovation,” said Michael Petronella, president of Dow Jones Indexes.
Global Fund Executive Director Michel Kazatchkine has welcomed the index, which he said allows the Global Fund to boost its partnership with the private sector and harness the power of financial markets.
