A new microfinance project in Haiti aims to link remittances from the country’s diaspora to reconstruction projects on the ground, Haiti Rewired reports. Zafen.org is based partly on the popular online microfinance lending platform Kiva. It seeks to efficiently connect entrepreneurial Haitians living overseas with development projects in the country. Zafen is a joint initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank, Fonkoze and a Catholic nonprofit. It is expected to formally launch in April.
