New UNICEF Chief Vows 'Better Tomorrow' for Children

New UNICEF chief Anthony Lake has pledged to help children worldwide “inherit a better tomorrow.” He assumed the post May 1, replacing Ann Veneman. “We’ve got a lot of urgent work ahead, leading up to, and beyond, the 2015 MDG (Millennium Development Goals) targets we’ve set for ourselves. And I believe we can do it – with political commitment, sound strategies, adequate investment and the engagement of a global community,” Lake said in a press release.
