The building housing the Belgian development agency Enabel and NGO Humanity & Inclusion has been destroyed in Gaza, prompting the Belgian government to summon the Israeli ambassador.
Enabel CEO Jean Van Wetter told Devex that no Enabel staff members were in the rented office at the time of the attack on Wednesday, with pictures posted on social media by Belgian officials showing the six-story building in the Al Rimal neighborhood completely leveled.
In a statement to Devex, Humanity & Inclusion wrote that it is “devastated to share that our main office in the Gaza Strip has been destroyed in a bombing,” while confirming that this was in the same building as Enabel.
