No fresh UK funding for Burma

Britain’s Department for International Development failed to take action on the proposals presented by the International Development Committee of the British House of Commons to increase the amount of aid given to Burma. Stipulations contained in the proposal include quadrupling the amount of cross-border assistance and democracy-building initiatives in Myanmar. While the DFID recognized the need to provide additional support, the agency’s response did not offer fresh funding beyond the previously allocated GBP1 million (USD2 million).
