North Korea has slammed the U.S.’s plan to impose additional financial sanctions on it as well as the ongoing joint U.S.-South Korea naval exercises, the Korea Times reports. North Korean diplomat Ri Tong Il said the exercises were in contrast to a U.N. Security Council statement calling for peace and security in the Korean Peninsula. South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan rejected its neighbor’s demands, noting that North Korea should undertake sincere denuclearization measures if it wants to resume international nuclear talks.
