Norway intends to increase its annual civilian aid spending for Afghanistan by 50 percent. “We have decided to raise our civilian aid to 750 million crowns (USD144.3 million) per year, and in Paris … I will announce on behalf of the government that we aim to give as much for the next five years,” Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere stated. According to Stoere, the funding will be used for initiatives that would bolster corruption fight, promote human rights and the rule of law, and empower Afghan women.
