The European Union has threatened to impose anti-subsidy tariffs on polyethylene terephthalate imported from Oman and Saudi Arabia, Arab News reports. The threat was issued as the EU began investigations into allegations that PET producers in Oman and Saudi Arabia have been receiving government aid and selling their products in the European market at cheaper prices. The probe aims to determine whether European PET products have been adversely affected by the alleged unfair competition from Saudi Arabian and Oman producers.
