Owen Barder Joins Center for Global Development

    Owen Barder is now a senior fellow and director for Europe at the Center for Global Development, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank and Devex content partner.

    The British national is a blogger and known aid transparency advocate. He served in the U.K. government from 1988 to 2010 in various capacities, including as private secretary to the prime minister and chancellor of the exchequer, as well as chief of the international finance and development effectiveness, communications and information, and Africa policy divisions at the Department for International Development.

    At CGDev, Barder will be tasked with “broadening and deepening CGD engagement with the European development community on policies and practices that matter for the world’s poor,” according to Nancy Birdsall, the organization’s founding president.
