Oxfam voices concern for quake-hit Pakistanis

Oxfam is worried that 1.8 million Pakistanis living in regions devastated by last year’s earthquake do not have protection against winter weather. “With snow already falling, this winter seems to have arrived early,” Farhana Faruqi Stocker of Oxfam International said. Relief groups blamed diseases for the death of some survivors who lived in makeshift shelters and unsanitary camps prior to last winter. Oxfam, in a report, described the recovery process as being “patchy” and found the pace of construction as “slow.” (Source: Oxfam sees 1.8 mln Pakistanis at risk in quake zone/Reuters)
