Food distributions to 750,000 people in the Gaza Strip will end on Nov. 13 unless critical supplies, including wheat, powdered milk and oil, are allowed into the area, the UN agency tasked with assisting Palestinian refugees warned Nov. 11. The ongoing closure of crossings in and out of Gaza is “both a physical as well as a mental punishment of the population,” according to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The closures have led to a prolonged humanitarian crisis in the territory, despite the continuing calm between Gaza and southern Israel. (UN News Service)
