Palestinians Gain More EU Funding

The European Commission will provide EUR58 million (USD77 million) more for Palestinians, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Louis Michel

. Of the sum, EUR32 million will be allocated to humanitarian operations in Gaza while EUR20 million will be used to assist the West Bank. The rest of the money will benefit Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. The funding forms part of the commission’s 2009 Global Plan, which focuses on the provision of food assistance, water and sanitation services, shelter rehabilitation, cash-for-work, and health and psychosocial support.
