The Philippines hopes to secure a compact with the Millennium Challenge Corp. by March 2010,
reports. Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo said the country is "definitely on track" in sealing a grant deal with the U.S. aid agency. On Dec. 9, MCC board members, including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, unanimously reselected the Philippines as compact-eligible for next year, giving the go-ahead for the country to receive USD5 million for compact preparation.
