Germany, France and other eurozone countries are pressing Portugal to secure financial assistance from the European Union and International Monetary Fund to help contain the bloc’s financial crisis, according to a senior eurozone source of Reuters.

    “France and Germany have indicated in the context of the Eurogroup that Portugal should apply for help sooner rather than later,” the senior source said, adding that Finland and the Netherlands had raised similar views.
