Red Cross to Issue New Haiti Appeal

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies plans to issue a new appeal for Haiti by late March, according to a new IFRC report.

The appeal will replace the current preliminary appeal, which IFRC issued Jan. 12, the day when a massive earthquake struck Haiti. The preliminary appeal stands at USD203.4 million and is 55 percent funded.

The soon-to-be launched appeal will be “based on a new plan of action for the relief phase of the operation and associated budget currently being drafted, to reflect a prolonged relief phase of up to 12 months,” according to the report.
