Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has phoned Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to express his support for the beleaguered president, whose 30-year rule is being challenged by street demonstrations that have put Egypt in turmoil over the past days.

“No Arab or Muslim can tolerate any meddling in the security and stability of Arab and Muslim Egypt by those who infiltrated the people in the name of freedom of expression, exploiting it to inject their destructive hatred,” the Saudi Press Agency quotes the Saudi king.

Saudi Arabia “stands with all its resources with the government of Egypt and its people,” Reuters reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency.
