SDC Approves New Cooperation Strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina

    The agency's 2009-2012 cooperation strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina has just been approved. It will provide funding for various areas such as law and democracy, economy and employment, health and basic infrastructure.

    The director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina told Devex Early Intelligence that the SDC, together with the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs will support efforts for decentralization and local governance, promote nation building, and enhance municipal infrastructure.

    The SDC will also fund activities to promote business investments, youth employability and access to markets.

    In addition, the agency will support health initiatives particularly in the areas of family medicine and mental health.

    An indicative 54 million Swiss Francs (US$50 million) has been set aside to finance the activities over the four-year period.
