Investigation is ongoing over the reported kidnapping of aid workers in Afghanistan.

Two foreign women — an African and a European — and three of their Afghan colleagues were abducted Tuesday (May 22) while traveling between the districts of Yaftal and Ragh in Badakhshan province, Abdul Maroof Rasikh told dpa.

The victims’ identities have not been released, but according to Rasikh, spokesman for the province’s governor, they work for international humanitarian organization Medair.
